LMS basics

What is the difference between an LMS and a CMS?

Quick answer

A CMS manages web content for visitors. An LMS manages learning for enrolled people: it knows who is studying what, tracks progress, holds assessments and produces records. Publishing pages is a small part of what an LMS does.
